Luke Appleby of Kingsdon

Luke Appleby married Ann Norris in 1794 in Kingsdon. We believe that he was closely related to Emanuel Appleby, who also lived in Kingsdon - possibly both were sons of Emanual Appleby who married Catherine Dwelly in Durston in 1741 - further research is required to establish the likelihood of this theory. Although Luke and Ann's children were all christened in Kingsdon, all their descendants moved away, most of them to either Banwell, nearer to Weston super Mare on the Bristol Channel or to Bristol. Several were masons or stonecutters; some were house painters.

There is a strong possibility that there are male descendants of this line alive today - it would be wonderful to find a volunteer to participate in our DNA programme and compare the results with those we already hold for a descendant of Emanual Appleby and Love Ludwell.

Please contact me if you can provide more information about members of this line, or if you can put me in touch with a living male Appleby descendant.
