William & Margarite Apleby of Bishopwearmouth

Details of this family were originally provided by Colin, and additional information has been provided by a number of other Appleby researchers - thank you to Paul, Denise and Peter.

As a result, the original tree has now been subdivided into several Durham Appleby lines; I have also been able to expand the more recent generations through the censuses.

From 1841 onwards, the family is strongly linked with the Panns area of Bishopwearmouth - with many of the males carrying on trades associated with the river - keelmen, shipwrights, and even an inspector of weights and measures - although one son and some of his family were cordwainers.
