To view this site properly and access the spreadsheets and family tree charts, you will need Adobe Reader installed on your computer - use the above link to download the latest FREE version of this application. If viewing on a mobile device, the standard view works best - though some of the images may be rotated, sorry I have not been able to overcome this problem.

The current banner shows Alnwick Castle, in Northumberland - a county in the far north east of England, bordering Scotland. This region is home to a number of Appleby lines - and our DNA project has confirmed genetic connections between several of these, which also match lines in Canada, USA and Ireland.
PLEASE NOTE: if you are viewing this site on an Apple device running IOS 13, you may experience problems with page layout, over-lapping text, etc. Hopefully, Apple will resolve these issues very soon,
(Meanwhile, I suggest you switch to a PC!)
Midlands Resource page
The spreadsheets in this section initially included mainly data collected during my reconstruction of family trees for the Willenhall Applebys, plus some data for the line of John and Tamar Appleby - hence the majority of information relates to Staffordshire, but as more lines for this region are added, we are gradually adding data for other counties such as Notts, Leics, Beds, Bucks and Berks.
I will gradually add data for other counties in this region over the coming months. All contributions of APPLEBY census entries and parish records for Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cheshire, Derbyshire, Herefordshire, Hunts & Rutland, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northants, Notts, Oxfordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire (phew!!) will be most gratefully received!
APPLEBYs in the census (updated October 2019):
APPLEBYs in parish records (updated October 2019):
Baptisms in Midland counties
Marriages in Midland counties
Burials in Midland counties
sources for all parish and/or GRO data are recorded in the final column of each record.
As you can see, there is still a lot more work to do to match parish records to the trees already on the website - and also to locate parish records for other counties in the Region. If you can help link individuals in YOUR family tree to these records, please contact me.
Note - these spreadsheets will open with Adobe Reader and you may need to enlarge the image and scroll across to read all the columns. Most pdfs are over 12 pages long, so you will need to scroll down too!
All census data was sourced from Find My Past or Ancestry.
